IT'S HOT IN ENC

This lovely couple has the distinct honor of taking possibly the absolute hottest tour I think I’ve given this summer.  You’re not gonna believe me but I swear this picture of them with Bernie the Bear is actually AFTER the walk, not before!

Picture it: Friday before Labor Day.Blog

105 degree heat advisory during the day.

We waited ‘till 6pm to start. They brought their shaded hats. I offered water.

And 30 minutes later, wringing in sweat, you know what joined the party?

Biting flies.

You know who I was counting on that didn’t show up that evening?

The river breeze.

I’m doing a terrible job marketing myself with this description, aren’t I?

That’s just the reality of those long, sticky dog days of summer in Eastern North Carolina. It’s not my favorite time to be outside either, y’all.

And yet…

LOOK AT THOSE SMILING FACES! Dare I say that they STILL had a good time? I hope that’s a real testament to the quality of the tour (and beauty of our town) — not just delirium from the heat.

Happy Anniversary weekend to them.  May their hotel have had ice cold air conditioning and a toast of something crisp waiting afterward.

THE BEST NEWS IS…

The worst of the heat is over. Minus “second summer”’s last try that will cycle through soon, reprieve has arrived. Today’s friends enjoyed breezes, temps this evening are in the 70’s, and tours are ramping up.

I’ve met some awesome people this summer, and had a blast. AND — I’m looking forward to seeing you, this fall.  Book now!
