FAQ

Policies

Refunds & Cancellations

As a general rule, paid tickets are eligible for a refund for any reason until 36 hours prior to the start of the selected tour. (Ex: A Saturday tour at 10 am must be canceled by the preceding Thursday at 10 pm.) Within 36 hours of the selected tour, refund requests will be declined.

The weather in North Carolina can change quickly, and tours are not automatically canceled due to any pending weather advisories. If the guide determines that weather conditions warrant canceling the tour and the tour has not yet begun, refunds will be administered. If the selected tour has already begun and weather conditions warrant stopping the tour early, rain checks will be issued for use at a later date.

Parking

The City of New Bern provides areas of both paid and free parking options. As a general rule, vehicles are permitted to park for free on Pollock, Craven, Middle and Front street between the hours of 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday, for a maximum of two (2) hours.

Paid parking is available on the corner of Pollock and Craven Streets.

Parking fines are not the responsibility of Bear Feet Street Tours. Guests should take care to familiarize themselves with the parking options available to them by the City at https://www.newbernnc.gov/parking/ .

Accessability

Tour routes generally cover one mile of public sidewalks, street crossings, railroad tracks and grassy areas. Tour participants are expected to be of sufficient health and ability as to traverse up to one and half hour in these conditions, or provide their own mobility accommodations to do such.

Tours are conducted in English and we are unable to provide modifications for the hearing impaired or those who speak a first language other than English. However, we are happy to provide one free ticket toward a translator in the company of an individual utilizing their services.

Animals

Under most circumstances, we are happy to have well behaved dogs join the tour. Dogs must be under the control of their owner and restrained on a leash less than 6 feet in length, including dogs in strollers. Owners will promptly remove any waste left by their animal on public property and no animal is permitted on any private property, including yards and driveways.  Dogs causing distraction or excessive noise on tour should be removed by their owner, and no refund will be given for tickets paid once the tour has begun.

Safety

Tours are conducted out of doors and the environment can fluctuate. Guests should prepare for their own comfort in regards to the terrain and weather exposure. Please choose appropriate layers, hats/sunglasses, shoes, etc.

The guide does not provide jackets, sun protection, or water and guests are encouraged to bring their own. Public restrooms are available at the Cub House, 223 Pollock St and are accessible before and/or after the tour.

Traffic is an inherent part of the tour environment. Care has been taken to design routes that follow paved sidewalks and safe street crossings where possible. Guests are ultimately responsible for their own health and well-being and should exercise personal discretion for their safety while on tour.

Children

Tours are considered family friendly and appropriate for all ages. Babies and toddlers still in strollers or being worn by a parent are free. Any mobile child participating in a tour must have a ticket purchased and is expected to meet the health and ability conditions mentioned above in order to complete the tour. Participants who disengage at any time from a tour in progress are not eligible for a refund.
